Beginning on Tuesday, September 24 the Moultrie County Health Department in collaboration with Covenant Transitions will sponsor a Cancer Self-Management Program. The program will be taught at the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Department located at 1505 W. Hagerman, Sullivan. The program is free and open to anyone who is a cancer survivor.
Taught by Sheila Greuel, MA, and Penny Arthur, QMHP, the course has six classes which are each two-and-a-half-hours in length. The classes will meet from 4-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through October 29.
Participants will learn skills to manage fatigue, enhance their health and deal with the uncertainties associated with a cancer diagnosis. They will also discover ways to improve their endurance and manage changes in their bodies and relationships.
Individuals interested in the program are requested to pre-register by calling the Moultrie County Health Department at 217-728-4114. Class size is limited, so register early. It is important to commit to attending all six classes.
