Beginning on Tuesday, January 14 the Moultrie County Health Department in collaboration with Covenant Transitions will sponsor a Cancer Survive and Thrive Program. The program will be held at the Moultrie County Health Department located at 202 S. Main, Sullivan. The program is free and open to anyone who is a cancer survivor.
Led by Sheila Greuel, MA, and Penny Arthur, QMHP, the program has six sessions. Participants will meet from 4-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through February 18.
Program participants will learn skills to manage fatigue, enhance their health and deal with the uncertainties associated with a cancer diagnosis. They will also discover ways to improve their endurance and manage changes in their bodies and relationships.
“As a cancer survivor, I wish I had known first-hand the challenges of facing my own fears and vulnerability while witnessing the impact my diagnosis and treatment had on the lives of my family and friends,” Greuel said. “I wish this program would have been available to me at that difficult time.”
Individuals interested in the program are requested to pre-register by calling the Moultrie County Health Department at 217-728-4114. Class size is limited, so register early. It is important to commit to attending all six classes.
