Beginning on Tuesday, November 12 the Moultrie County Health Department in collaboration with Covenant Transitions will sponsor a Cancer Surviving & Thriving Program. The program is free and open to anyone who has been affected by cancer personally or as a partner, family member or caregiver.
The Cancer Surviving & Thriving curriculum consists of six weekly classes, which will meet from 4-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through December 17. Classes will be held at the Moultrie County Health Department located at 202 S. Main, Sullivan.
Sheila Greuel, MA, Covenant Transitions, and Penny Arthur, QMHP, will facilitate participants as they learn skills to manage fatigue, enhance their health and deal with the uncertainties associated with a cancer diagnosis.
According to Greuel, “As a cancer survivor, I know first-hand the challenges of facing my own fears and vulnerability while witnessing the impact of my diagnosis and treatment on the lives of my family and friends. I wish this program would have been available during that difficult time.”
Individuals interested in the program are requested to pre-register by calling the Moultrie County Health Department at 217-728-4114. Class size is limited, so register early. It is important to commit to attending all six classes.
