Moultrie County COVID-19 Update

Multiple COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Week Ending October 9th

For the week ending October 9, 2020, the Moultrie County Health Department (MCHD) has identified a total of 23 additional cases of COVID-19. The individuals range from 4 to 80s in age. As of Friday, October 9th, 259 individuals have tested positive for the virus with a total of 10 Moultrie County residents isolated at home.

Of the 23 cases, three are associated with a residential facility and are isolated. A second outbreak involving three residents has been identified at Petersen Healthcare’s Mason Point. One individual is isolated at the facility, and two are hospitalized.

Both facilities have notified all involved guardians, families, residents and staff. Both facilities continue to work closely with the MCHD and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Due to the escalating number of cases, the Moultrie County Health Department strongly recommends individuals and businesses help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our communities by following these rules:

  • Watch physical distance and keep six feet from others.
  • Wear a mask when in public places.
  • Wash hands routinely.
  • Avoid large crowds.
  • Above all, stay home if ill.
