Public Health Assistant

The following represents a brief description of positions within the MCHD. Please note that each position in the MCHD entails a variety of duties and responsibilities which may or may not be listed.

Public Health Assistant Duties

The Public Health Assistant (PHA) serves as the primary receptionist and initial public contact for the Moultrie County Health Department (MCHD). The PHA assists with coordinating nursing services and environmental health programs and is responsible for front desk operations, which include:

  • Providing community-based service information to the public.
  • Scheduling nursing service and environmental health appointments via an electronic program.
  • Initiating billing and payment transactions for services.
  • Maintaining client information in a computer-based scheduling system.
  • Completing program-specific enrollments and monthly reports.
  • Organizing and maintaining client files.
  • Always maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Assist professional staff as needed.
  • Complete program and department trainings as required.

Qualifications for Employment

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous clerical and computer experience (preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good word processing skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to always maintain client confidentiality.

Additional Employment Requirements

  • Own and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Present a valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Show proof of insurance coverage for your vehicle.
  • Travel as necessary for trainings, off-site clinics, meetings, etc.

Salary

The pay range is $17.50 – 22.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and education. This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) located at the MCHD offices, 202 S. Main Street, Sullivan, IL, 61951.
